Sponsorship & Workplace Campaigns
Workplace fundraising is a positive, rewarding and fun way to motivate and further engage employees in your organization. Through workplace fundraising, your employees will help Engineers without Borders (EWB) progress human development and gain a better understanding of challenges facing people in the developing world. By supporting EWB, you are investing in the work we do across Canada and around the world.
Please contact EWB for more information on how you can partner with us.
Corporate & Workplace Programs
The Calgary Professional Chapter offers Workplace Lunch and Learn presentations and workshops as one of our core focus areas, with a goal of offering an insightful and challenging understanding of human development. The interactive workshops are a great opportunity for employees to collaborate and learn form one another, while broadening their knowledge and perspectives on global development. All offerings are designed to fit into a one-hour lunch break.
Root Causes of Poverty
Our most popular workshop has participants working together in small groups, analyzing and discussing a case study, with the goal of determining the fundamental causes of poverty. In this workshop, you’ll learn about international development issues, explore the causes and effects of poverty and discover Engineers Without Borders’ approach to poverty reduction.
Our most recent workshop divides participants into two groups. Each group has to defend why their water pumping system will be most effective. At the end of the case, the true facts are exposed and participants are able to reflect on the many factors influencing the success of a development project.
A presentation discussing the fundamentals of Fair Trade, how the certification process works, the positive impacts on the small-scale farmers and producers, and the benefit to companies who offer Fair Trade coffee at their workplace.
An interactive game-style workshop that has participants representing different countries. Each team must work to obtain necessary water, oil, technology and monetary resources while navigating challenging social, economic, political and cultural barriers. The complexities of world water issues and EWB’s work within the water and sanitation sector are discussed.
A presentation hosted by one of our returned overseas volunteers, sharing recent experiences of living in Africa and working with one of EWB’s ventures.
Additional presentations can be customized based on specific interests of the audience. Contact us to schedule a presentation for your organization.
