In 2014, Advocacy across EWB really took off.
Highlights from the year include an MP trip to Ghana, more than 21,000 signatures on a petition to protect Canada’s aid budget from further cuts and Next Step events across the country!
Throughout the year, EWB volunteers and staff in Canada and Africa played a huge part in reforming Canada’s development assistance, strengthening leadership towards responsible mining in Africa, fixing the finance gap and cultivating a culture of active citizenship.
We’d like to give a special thanks to the Calgary EWB Advocacy team, who worked tirelessly in taking a lead in EWB’s efforts. Not only did our volunteers advance nationwide campaigns, they took advocacy to the next level with The Next Step.
By bringing together leading advocates Naheed Nenshi, Calgary Mayor and Japman Bajaj, CFO of Soshal Group and Global Shaper with the World Economic Forum, The Next Step accelerated active citizenship and advanced foreign policy and global development.
Thanks to EWB members, volunteers and supporters, 2014 was a year filled with milestones and success.
